Biography
Philip Bastien, or as the world calls him – Wetty Beatz - is an international, trailblazing record producer and artiste. He has been instrumental in the takeoff of the music genre Afro-Soca that combines the pulse and sounds of African music with notorious Soca vibes. Born and raised on the tiny Union Island, located within the Caribbean country St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Wetty has always had a love for all things music. At the tender age of 5, he began doing stage performances which ultimately led to him producing his first song at the age of 12. In an effort to take his overall production skills to the next level, Wetty moved to Paris, France to attend university at the SAE Institute Paris where he studied Sound Engineering and still lives today. With his seamless pairing of Soca music and African rhythms, Wetty has been in high demand for his work across the Caribbean. Over the years he has been called upon by notable Caribbean artistes for his production. Not only is he a great record producer, but these days Wetty Beatz is looking to add the title performing artiste to his list of qualifications. Since 2016 he has been pursuing being front and center as an artiste and not just a behind the scenes producer, even winning the Vincy Mas Breakout Artiste award 2016. He has a keen interest in the Afrobeats sound and will also continue to do Soca music but will push to bridge the gap between the two.
