Biography
In 1992 Opus III climbed up from the underground with their ground breaking 90s ambient house classic “It’s A Fine Day”. Opus III’s debut album for PWL/Atlantic, Mind Fruit (1992), featured the popular songs “Evolution Rush”, “It’s A Fine Day” and King Crimson cover ”I Talk to the Wind." The group attained notoriety for their unique sound and spiritually uplifting music. Also in 1992, while Opus III was experiencing their peak popularity, Hawkshaw worked with Orbital on their second album, the landmark Orbital 2 and starred in the video for Halcyon as a delusional Mother doing the washing up. Hawkshaw also wrote the arabic style vocal hook vocal for the Orbital track Lush. Opus III returned in 1994 with the follow-up album Guru Mother, with dance hits "When You Made the Mountain.”, “Dreaming Of Now” and “Hand in Hand”. In 1994 the Opus III disbanded and Hawkshaw went on to follow a solo career creating her first album On Ultimate Things with producer Mark Pritchard. In 2000 following the completion of her solo album, Hawkshaw then went onto work as a featured vocalist with popular DJ’s at the time like DJ Tiesto on “Urban Train”, “Just Be”, “Battleship Grey”. Hawkshaw continues to collaborate in various genres like Drum and Bass “The Light”, “Face to Face (The Joy), “Nothing Can Replace” with Seba and Paradox, and is currently working on new material with Oona Dahl. In 2011 Hawkshaw founded a new record label with a conscience “Wellhead Records”.
