Biography
Nothing is ever simple in the world of cult Belgian art-rockers dEUS. Yet as they march on into their 28th year of existence, they're pausing to celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Ideal Crash, the album that cemented their status as one of the most accomplished, inventive indie rock bands of a generation, and developed the shabby charm and raw edge of their early work that rightly drew so much acclaim and adoration. Alongside a full remastering and reissue of deluxe CD and vinyl boxsets, the band will also undertake a twenty-date Spring tour, playing the recordǯs ten tracks in full to audiences in major cities all across Europe. But this is no exercise in lazy nostalgia. Sessions are already underway for album number eight – which is expected around the turn of next year – and with new guitarist Bruno de Groote thoroughly settled into his role it is, says Tom Barman, dEUS' affable frontman, the perfect time to get the engine going again, to get the fucking machine back on the road! If there was one moment where we should celebrate an album and take it on tour, itǯs this one. It was a very important record for us, itǯs twenty years old, and itǯll set high standards for the new songs.
