Biography
After a promising EP, several successful singles, widely acclaimed debut album ‘Big Enough’ and a bunch of memorable live shows, Mooneye have become a household name in the Belgian alternative pop rock scene. Early in 2023 the band of singer-songwriter Michiel Libberecht return with brand new music and prepare for a must-see club tour. Having developed and perfected a characteristic sound in a short amount of time, Mooneye manage to sound both intimate and large, meticulous and playful, and are gifted with Libberecht’s melancholic and breathtaking voice. From being a slightly naive songwriter in the band’s early days, Libberecht has grown into a proficient storyteller, writing songs that flourish in an open and honest production and aim to be timeless, emulating the work of music greats and heroes such as Neil Young, R.E.M, Bruce Springsteen or more recently Strand Of Oaks and Sam Fender. During the Big Enough tour, the band had a clear plan while working on the new songs: trying to capture their live energy on tape. The first tangible result arrives on 15 February with new single ‘In Between’, a sparkling pop gem proving once more that Libberecht is growing to be the best version of himself as a songwriter, and that the band’s sound has matured. In the expert hands of producer Koen Gisen (Meskerem Mees, The Bony King Of Nowhere), the new songs sound fresh yet familiar, breathing international class.
