Biography

The Postman Syndrome is an unpredictable, risk-taking alternative rock/alternative metal outfit who changes moods frequently and thrives on intricate melodies as well as brutal aggression. One minute, the New Jersey outfit is playing a rich melody that would not have been inappropriate for a '70s progressive rock outfit such as Yes, Genesis, or Pink Floyd; the next minute, the Postman Syndrome is getting in the listener's face with merciless, jagged, harsh bursts of metal/punk noise. And these heaven/hell contrasts work well for the Postman Syndrome, whose members started playing and writing together in 1996 (when they were still in high school). Even then, they had eclectic tastes when it came to rock; the East Coast residents appreciated the intensity of Soundgarden but also admired the quirkiness and eccentricity of Primus. Eventually, they started calling themselves the Postman Syndrome -- a name that was obviously inspired by the killing sprees of some disgruntled postal workers in the United States. In 2001, the Postman Syndrome signed with Now or Never Records, a small independent rock label that is based in Jersey City, NJ. Now or Never released Terraforming, the band's debut album, in September 2002. The Postman Syndrome's five members are Matt Lupo (guitar, vocals, trumpet), Chris Alfano (guitar, vocals), Jim Stang (guitar, vocals), Brett Bamberger (bass, vocals), and Mike Somers (drums, percussion). ~ Alex Henderson, Rovi
