Biography
Marcus D is a hip hop producer from Seattle, who lives in Tokyo. He has collaborated with American hip hop legends like Del the Funky Homosapien, Royce Da 5'9", Saigon, Planet Asia, Skyzoo, Crooked I, Blu & Curren$y. Marcus D is well-known for his contributions to the Japanese jazz hip-hop scene and is often compared to his mentor, the late Japanese producer Nujabes. In 2012, Marcus gained international acclaim with the release of "Melancholy Hopeful" under the Hydeout/Tribe imprint, which featured well-known affiliated artists Shing02, Substantial, Cise Star, Funky DL, and Emancipator. He is also 1/2 of the pioneering jazzhop group Bop Alloy with Substantial, and the 2009 Seattle Redbull Big Tune Beat Battle Champion.
