Biography
Mark Bishop is a Grammy-Nominated, Dove Award winning Gospel Music artist who hails from the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Kentucky. He began his musical career in 1984, singing in church with his family. Word spread of the family's beautiful harmony and by 1987 "The Bishops" were traveling a full-time schedule, performing on the Grand Ole' Opry, Bill Gaither videos and concerts, Nashville Now with Ralph Emory, Crooke and Chase, and in concert venues everywhere. As the years unfolded for The Bishops, Mark became the group's primary songwriter, penning several hit songs and producing the group's "Kentucky Bluegrass" album which won a Dove award the following year. When the group retired from the road in 2001, Mark continued to create music and maintain a concert schedule. Today, years later, he still writes music for his own recordings and for other artists in the Gospel genre, and continues to share his songs in live performances. You can follow Mark at www.markbishopmusic.com Recently, in 2021, Mark's "Beautiful Day" album was recognized by the Recording Academy with a Grammy nomination for "Best Roots Gospel Recording." Quotes from music reviewers: "Mark's music gives us the glasses to see the bigness of God in everyday happenstance." "He writes with wistfulness and imagination." "His lyrics are a work of art and the music is just as good." A recent Amazon reviewer may have said it the simplest and the best... "You just need Mark Bishop's music in your life."
