Biography
South London songstress Jaz Karis grew up in church choirs and performing was within her from as young as seven when she began playing the piano and singing for anyone who would listen. Her parents would play Gospel, Soca and Soul around the house which ignited Jaz’s love for music and the rest is history. Jaz looks back on her youth and is thankful for the lessons she learned, both good and bad and between her primary school talent shows to Brit School productions, they’ve moulded her into the woman she is today. Over the last few years, Jaz Karis has become a consistent and leading figure at the forefront of the UK music scene. Occupying a space between R&B, Soul, Amapiano and Afropop, the singer is a fiercely independent artist who regularly receives enthusiastic support from the likes of DJ Target, Twin B, Ace, Sian Anderson, Leah Davies, Manny Norte and Diplo. The 25-year-old has collaborated with the likes of; Juls, Blue Lab Beats, Katy B, Big Tobz to name a few. Jaz has a huge love for all things nostalgic from D’Angelo and SWV to Enid Blyton and Jacqueline Wilson, she has a particular love for fiction and sees life through the lens of a young girl fixated with fairy tale endings. Jaz released her fourth EP, ‘Dear Jaz’, in November 2022, and put on her biggest (sold out) headline show yet at Lafayette in London.
