Biography
Danny Weinkauf is a Grammy winning songwriter. He and his RED PANTS BAND have won multiple awards for kids’ music that captures a wide range of styles and topics making it fun for the whole family! Accolades for the albums No School Today, Red Pants Band, Totally Osome!, Inside I Shine, Dinosaurs and Metaphors, Words, Lullabies, and Light Up Your Love include an International Songwriting Competition win, 2016 Family Choice Award, a 2014 NAPPA, Parents' Choice honor, CoolMomPicks Pick of the Year Awards in 2014 & 2016, and Fids and Kamily top albums of the yr for 2014, 2016, and 2017 as well as Parents' Choice award 2019. Danny is best known as bassist for the multi-Grammy winning/platinum selling band THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS and has also worked with Fountains of Wayne, Mike Viola and Candy Butchers, Lincoln, David Mead, Stephen Fretwell, the Davenports, Sound of Monday, and many other bands. While Danny generally plays and records all the instruments on these albums, the live band is comprised of Tina Kenny Jones on bass and vocals, Steve Plesnarski on drums and vocals, and Russ Jones on guitar, bass, vocals, and ukulele. Danny plays guitar, piano, and sings. Red Pants Band shows feature radio favorites like “My Magic Helicopter”, “Champion of the Spelling Bee”, and “The Moon is made of Cheese” as well as hits from Danny's work with TMBG such as “I am a Paleontologist”, “Elephants,” "Where do they make balloons?", and many others!
