Biography
Undeniably a forerunner in lyrical prowess, Willie The Kid has become recognized as one of the most gifted and enterprising artists in the rap industry; a true wordsmith. His descriptive rhymes are a wondrous contrast, pairing lush experiences with the grit of street poetry. His bristly lyrics, unpredictable rhyme patterns and colorful vocabulary are often woven between lush, head-nodding production. Undoubtedly, his sound is truly one of a kind. Willie has collaborated alongside many notable artists including Nas, Lil Wayne, Alchemist, Action Bronson, Roc Marciano, Royce da 5'9, Curren$y, Jadakiss, T.I., and Gucci Mane to name a few. His professional career began as a founding member and premier artist of the Aphilliates—breaking ground on the mixtape circuit with DJ Drama, Don Cannon, DJ Sense and brother La The Darkman. Gaining invaluable experience, Willie developed his own sound, created his own niche, and reinvented his brand while his number of loyal followers continued to grow. A native of Grand Rapids, MI, Willie’s approach to Hip Hop is a narrative—boastful yet transparent—while articulating worldly experiences and carefully placed introspection. ~ Dennis Malcolm Byron
