Biography
Since the band’s official inception in 2004, HILERA – among the Philippines’ most hardworking acts to emerge in the millennium – has always delivered the one-two punch of being an uber- effective songwriting unit which produced a universally relatable catalog of original material, to being an explosive live act that always tore the roof-off of any venue. Their self-titled debut album – released in 2006 – spawned three hit singles: the punk-rock inspired “Rhyme Without Reason,” the power-pop live anthem “Define” and the hit radio ballad “Pilit,” and saw the band literally skyrocket to popularity, as they were busier than ever playing shows all over the archipelago. Throughout the succeeding years, the band managed not just to survive musical trends, but to thrive in an ever-evolving musical landscape and release two more full-length albums, namely 2009’s Nuthouse and 2011’s Kid in A Coma, and various singles and collaborations with some of the Philippines’ biggest names, winning and appearing various prestigious events and ceremonies like the NU107 Rock Awards, the MYX Music Awards. Their most recent releases “Saglit” and “Isa,” both have an obvious rejuvenated energy to them, and a strong, anthemic pop-sensibility complete with stadium-sized choruses. During the early part of 2020, the band managed to release music videos for both singles, and currently, cannot wait to hit the live stages and studio once again to deliver the goods for the fans. You know it’s going to be good.
