Biography
The Portuguese DJ and producer Rui Da Silva has been part of the house scene since 1992, but not until this century has he broken through from the underground. Starting off in Portugal, he came to prominence as Underground Sound Of Lisbon with the highly regarded ‘So Get Up’, a track which has helped to convince DJs of Da Silva’s position as a godfather of the tribal house style. After this success he co-founded Kaos Records, a house label licensing to the US through Tribal and Twisted. As a push for more exposure, Da Silva moved to London in 1999 and set up Kismet Records, an underground house label. Continuing the Underground Sound Of Lisbon moniker he released ‘The Lights’ and began collaborations with friend Chris CoCo as CoCo Da Silva. Rui’s recordings were now getting the exposure from DJs such as Danny Tenaglia, Sasha, John Digweed and Pete Tong, and his fourth release ‘Touch Me’ struck gold. The sultry vocals and cool keyboards were aired five times in one set by Paul Oakenfold at Pacha, and the track reached number 1 in the UK, Portugal and many other countries around the world, scooping Muzik magazine’s Best Single award for 2001. The Produced & Remixed album brings together his underground material in a collection of deep, throbbing tribal house, a sound that has placed him in great demand as a remixer. To this day Rui continues to release and break boundaries with his unique sound. check Rui's youtube channel here https://www.youtube.com/user/RuiDaSilvaMusic
