Biography
Florida-based R&B singer Jimmy Levy began his career as a social media influencer before earning a spot on the 18th season of reality competition American Idol in 2020. Buoyed by his newfound national exposure, Levy's music quickly became a platform for his political and religious views, as evidenced by singles like 2021's "This Is a War" "and 2022's "God Over Government," which he recorded with rapper Hi-Rez. Based in Miami, Levy built a social media following by uploading videos to various online platforms and collaborating with artists like rappers XXXTentacion and singer Nitti Gritti. He successfully auditioned for American Idol in 2020 and made it several weeks into the competition before being eliminated. His career began to take off when he teamed up with Florida rapper Hi-Rez for a pair of politically charged 2021 singles, "This Is a War" and "Welcome to the Revolution." He continued in this direction over the next year with songs like the Billboard-charting "Take the Lead" and two more Hi-Rez collaborations, "God Over Government" and "Faith Over Fear." ~ TiVo Staff
