Biography

Squidgenini (pron. squid-jeh-nee-nee) is a vocalist, producer and DJ from Brisbane/Meanjin. From humble beginnings as a solo bedroom recording project in 2013, Squid’s   rare song-writing ability, versatile production and energetic performance pedigree has placed her as one of Australia’s most exciting emerging acts. 
 Known for her distinctive beat-driven sound and soulful vocals, Squid’s unique value in production and performance has seen her share lineups with Nai Palm, Kilo Kish, ABRA, First Beige and Close Counters, and feature at festivals such as The Big Pineapple (QLD), Jungle Love (QLD), Yonder (QLD) and Arcadia (QLD). 
 After many years as a producer & vocalist, Squid exploded onto the DJ scene with a massive closing set at Yonder Festival (QLD) in November 2020. Since then, Squid’s exceptional ear for melody and tight mixing ability has seen her captivate crowds with sets  unencumbered by genre. 
 Within a week of its release, Squid’s most recent single “All Made Up” received over 100K Spotify streams and support from Jamz Supernova on BBC Radio 1Xtra. Her much anticipated, debut EP ‘Squid’  is out now on Beats of No Nation.
