Biography
Manal was born in 1993 in Casablanca, Morocco. After appearing on Lebanon’s Star Academy in 2009, Manal balanced her passion for music with her studies achieving her Baccalaureate. In 2014 she posted a cover of the song ‘Zina’ on YouTube. The video came to the attention of Moroccan hitmaker Dj Van who immediately recognized her talent. In 2015 Manal released her first single ‘Denia’, earning her the ‘Best Female Artist North Africa’ award at the Africa Music Awards in 2015. In 2016, Manal receiving her Masters degree and signed up for a PhD. Later that year she switched representation and signed with RPEG Ltd, founded by Wu-Tang Clan artist Cilvaringz. In April 2017, Manal released ‘Koulchi Ban' which reached 1 million views in a matter of weeks. In February 2018, Manal signed with Sony Music Middle East and released 'Taj' which took the internet by storm and cemented her as ground-breaking female artist on the Arab urban scene. Her fans include Saad Lamjarred and leading French rappers Booba and La Fouine. In 2018 Manal teamed up with rap duo Shayfeen on 'Nah' and then had her biggest single to-date - 'Slay' - an uptempo French/Arabic track featuring Moroccan rapper ElGrandeToto. In April 2019 she released Pas Le Choix and followed up with love ballad NTA in September.
