Biography
Stefan Nilsson was born 1955. He studied piano at Framnäs, where he started the successful fusionband Kornet. He studied classical piano at The Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. He has released numerous solo albums, and during his career he worked with artists such as Tommy Körberg, Georg Riedel, Sissel and Jojje Wadenius. Nilsson and Körbergs musical partnership resulted in several albums. Körbergs Eurovision-hit Stad I Ljus is produced by Nilsson. Stefan has been much sought after in various musical fields both as composer, pianist and song accompanist. As a composer of film music he has been involved in numerous projects. He won international acclaim for the music to Bille Augusts Best Intentions (Den Goda Viljan), Pelle the Conqueror (Pelle Erövraren – Oscar and Palme d’Or), Jerusalem and Juloratoriet. He composed for Dheeraj Alkolars Liv & Ingmar, Van Veeteren-films (Håkan Nesser), Beck-films (Sjövall/Wahlöö) and the beloved tv series Skärgårdsdoktorn. He was honored with the Swedish award Guldbaggen in 1997 for his contribution to Swedish film music. His greatest success to date is Gabriellas Sång from the film As it is in heaven (Så som i himmelen) sung by Helen Sjöholm. In 2022 Stefan composed the symphony Ulrica Pia for the Royal Navy Orchestra when the Swedish Navy celebrated 500 years. Stefan Nilsson passed away in May 2023. His last release is Ännu en sång sung by his daughter Ji Nilsson. The proseeds from the song will go to Stefan Nilssons memorial fund.
