Biography
Fronted by a mole (Mr. Maloke) with a bird (Tengo Troublemaker), frog (Frogga), and fly (Midi Mighty Moe) among his crew, Puppetmastaz are an all-puppet hip-hop posse from Germany. With human producers and puppeteers 'N1tro, Patric Catani, Bomb 20, and Mocky behind the scenes, the group debuted their live show in 1999, then released their debut EP, Humans Get All the Credits, in 2002. The Pet Sound EP landed that same year while the Zoology EP followed in 2003, as did the group's debut album Creature Funk. A remix album, Prosettis' Disco Balls, helmed by the group's resident dragon, Ducci Prosetti, appeared in 2004, then the group released the album Creature Shock Radio in 2005. The LP Clones Live in Berlin was released in 2007 along with a cover version of John Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance," with proceeds going to Amnesty International. The Takeover landed in 2008 as Mocky left to pursue a solo career, which spawned the group's 2009 album The Breakup. All was well as the band spent 2010 touring China, and returned to the album bins with 2012's Revolve and Step Up! along with 2016's Keep Yo Animal. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
