Biography
Marco Antonio Vázquez Barreiro is a renown Mexican Singer and composer, born on February 17 in the Santa Julia neighborhood of Mexico City. He is the second of nine children, his father, Antonio Vázquez Hernández, was a devout poetry lover, and his mother, Martha Barreiro de Vázquez, a conoceur of music who every afternoon, after diner, would sing tangos by Carlos Gardel with her children. It was by listening to his mother and brothers sing that the taste for music and writing short rustic poems was born. One of his many popular compositions is Creo, written in Mexico City in 1959 and inspired by his then girlfriend Lola, who would later become his wife and mother to his five children. This song even contains an acrostic with her name: La luz de tus lindos ojos/ Ojos de dulce mirar/ La miel de tus labios rojos/ Ansioso quiero probar… He had his second hit single in 1968 with “Te vi Llorando”, the song that consecrated him as an artist. He started singing Mariachi and with Antonio Calderon as a duet “Dueto Andariego”, singing at night always accompanied by his faithful companion: the guitar, during the day he made song adaptations from English to Spanish for groups like Los Apson. He has more than 60 record productions performed by the author and other singers (Valente Pastor, Vicente Fernández, Los Temerarios, Los Freddy’s, Estela Núñez, Flor Silvestre to name a few). Translated by Mary Navarro… Credit to the Society of Authors and Composers of Mexico (SACM)
