Biography
Frank Duval was born in Berlin in 1940 as the son of an old Huguenot and artistic family. In 1952 he made his debut as a child actor at the Amerikahaus, and in 1954 he became an assistant director. From 1958 Duval appeared with his sister Maria as a pop duo. In 1963 he shone as Freddy in "My Fair Lady", the biggest musical success of the post-war period. As an actor, he appeared in the Heinz Erhardt film "Natürlich die Autofahrer", among others. In 1965 he started his career as a composer. The Bavarian Radio entrusted him with its major musical and radio play productions (Per Anhalter ins All, Momo). In 1968, Duval began making films himself and wrote songs for Peter Alexander, Maria Schell or Iwan Rebroff. His breakthrough as a TV composer came in 1977 with the music for the „Tatort" episode „Schüsse in der Schonzeit". Duval now wrote more than 200 pieces of music for the crime series "Derrick" and "Der Alte". Titles like "Angel of Mine" or "Give Me Your Love", melody of the ZDF series "Unsere schönsten Jahre", became hits. His LPs also stormed the charts, the first "If I Could Fly Away" (1983) was already gold-plated. In 1985 Duval moved to the Canary Island of La Palma with his wife Kalina Maloyer (songwriter). There he returned to his roots as a filmmaker, Kalina Maloyer discovered painting for herself. In 2021 Frank Duval released his new song and video edition "Lonesome Fighter". His new adopted home is Essaouira in Morocco. He is working on new projects there.
