Biography
Róisín Murphy is a pioneering force in electronic pop. With a career spanning three decades, she fearlessly pushes boundaries and captivates audiences with her unique artistic vision. Taking inspiration from her early years in the Irish town of Arklow and immersing herself in the vibrant club scenes of Manchester and Sheffield, Murphy’s discography is a hypnotic blend of diverse sounds and genres. From her early days in Moloko, known for the hit “Sing It Back” to her critically acclaimed solo albums like Róisín Machine, Murphy consistently surprises and delights listeners. Now signed to Ninja Tune, Róisín is collaborating with DJ Koze on her forthcoming album Hit Parade. With notable tracks like “CooCool” and “The Universe”, the album invites listeners to explore a hyper modern record that melds disco, soul, house, and techno. Murphy continues to surf her own musical waves with utter aplomb, as she’s done throughout her entire career. Renowned for her enigmatic stage presence and show-stopping wardrobe, Murphy is ready to captivate audiences with her electrifying live performances at upcoming shows, including Blue Dot, Melt Festival, Secret Garden Party, and more. Later this fall Murphy’s live reputation is set to soar even higher, as she will embark on a series of US dates, including shows at Terminal 5, The Wiltern, and the eagerly anticipated Portola Festival. In February 2024, Róisín will captivate London’s legendary Alexandra Palace renowned for monumental performances.
