Biography

2015 was the year artist & producer Habit Blcx began his musical love affair. While Los Angeles may have birthed him & assisted in the influence of his views & mentality, Brooklyn is currently where he is continuing the legwork. It was there in LA, Habit received a bevy of self-knowledge, & introduction to music through his father’s DJing days. Although the concept of making music wouldn’t materialize until his senior year of college, the notion brought him to a discography that reveals the introspection & surgeon-like lyrics Blcx owns today. 2020 singles “Bloom”, “Illusions”, & “We Can Move On Now” contain an essence of self-questioning while gleaming a light into heavy contemplation that seeps through the speakers & into the psyche of his listeners. Each song & feature throughout his discography is carefully constructed with expressions that penetrate & hit the target with ease while encapsulating the internal & reflective moments we all can attest to. Accompanying the thoughtful vocabulary are a few kicks & snares, heavily intertwined with perfectly timed horns with a jazzy dusting to bring the point home. The rhythmic continuation of soul searching can be found on his 2020 EP God is Here, & 2021 EP Gratitude. Both EPs carry an energy reminiscent of Habit’s contemplative repertoire Progress is a Process 2 (2017), Progress is a Process 3 (2018), & Everything’s Fine (2019); all of which are precursors to what’s to come in the near future.
