Biography
Dante Thomas is an American singer, songwriter, and novelist born in Sacramento California. His career in music started from the young age of five. Growing up he listened to artists like Jodeci and Steve Wonder, As a teen, he sang in funk bands while working regular jobs. At age 18 he bought a one-way ticket to the Big Apple. His first night in NYC he slept on an emergency cot in a hallway in port-authority bus terminal in Manhattan. The next day he found his way into Covenant House. Next he moved to the Bronx. A year later he met Donovan Thomas who became his manager. The next 5 years he recorded many songs while meeting new contacts. Early on he toured with The Notorious BIG, also rubbing shoulders with “Color Me Bad”, Teddy Riley, Mariah Carey, and Wyclef. In 2000 Dante and Donovan met Pras of the Fugees and recorded his song “Miss California”. Two weeks later Dante had a major record deal with Elektra/Warner Music. A month passed by and he was booked as an opening act for Nysnc which was to begin Spring 2001. In 2001 “Miss California” sky rocketed up the world charts putting him on America's top 100 Billboard. Dante went on to tour with TLC, Nelly, 112, and Blackstreet, and worked in the studio alongside Scott Storch, Snoop Dogg, and The Backstreet Boys, as well as singing songs with Akon, Ne-Yo, and Pink. He has 2 gold records and one multi-platinum record “Miss California”, so far selling in excess of 20 million copies.
