Biography

The Unkool Hillbillies is a Swedish rock-and-roll band, established in 2003. The band is fronted by boogie-woogie flavoured pianist Anders Umegård and delivers a thrilling mix of rock-a-billy, blues and rock'n'roll, often compared to The Blasters and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Main influeces are otherwise the roots music pioneers like Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Walter, Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, Hank Williams and Sonny Burgess. The band is an acclaimed live act and has toured frequently in Europe and USA. They have released five albums to this date and are also known for the collaboration with Karin Johansson, who can be heard on some of the bands best known numbers like You´re The One and Bad Investment Blues. Current lineup: Anders Umegård (piano/vocals), Fredric Bergström (double bass/vocals), Richard Andersson (harmonica/vocals), Mats Brobäck (drums), Stefan Asplund (guitar). The band also collaborates with guitarist Robert Karlsson (Rauchan) and saxophone player Otto Gryting (Hillbilly Twist). See also: Dubbelgänget.
