Biography
Chris Brooks is a guitarist from Sydney who’s style draws from rock, fusion, jazz and prog metal influences to create a sound that combines rock guitar tone and styling with a sense of phrasing and note choice more at home in fusion or funk. After studying at the Australian Institute of Music in the 90s and building a successful teaching business, Brooks first came to guitar music listeners’ attention with the release of his debut instrumental album “The Master Plan” (2002, Progmatic Music). With ‘The Master Plan’, Chris delivered an exciting and diverse instrumental release. Forming a tapestry of melodic themes, soaring solos and fiery excursions in rock, progressive metal and rock-fusion, laden with dazzling guitar work, imaginative songwriting, and creative arrangements, the album has been a consistent seller since its release and has now sold over 6,000 copies around the world. Since the release of his first album, Brooks has toured around Australia, performed multiple clinics, been a member of a major-label rock band, written and recorded with members of Yngwie Malmsteen, Dio, LORD, and appeared on record labels like Marquee Inc (Japan), Frontiers Records (Italy) and Liquid Note Records (UK). He has also appeared as a solo artist on the 7 network’s “Sunrise” program to over 350,000 viewers. Brooks has released later in 2011, entitled "The Axis of All Things". The album’s first single was “Velvet Claws”.
