Biography
Led by award-winning singer/producer Thomas Troelsen, Private are a Danish dance-pop trio that debuted in 2007 with a Top Ten album and a pair of Top Five hits. Prior to forming Private with Asger Tarpgaard (guitar) and Tanja Simonsen (vocals), Troelsen was in the dance-pop sextet Superheroes (which also included Tarpgaard and Simonsen) from 1997-2006, during which time the group released three albums -- Dancing Casanova (1998), Igloo (2000), and Superheroes (2002), the latter of which was a Top 20 hit in Denmark -- and a best-of compilation, Behind Our Masks We Are Perfectly Ordinary People (2004), not to mention a handful of singles. Moreover, Troelsen did production/remix work for fellow Scandinavian acts including Junior Senior ("Move Your Feet," 2002), Melody Club ("Take Me Away," 2004; "Boys in the Girls' Room," "Wildhearts," 2005), and Gisli ("The World Is Movin'," 2007). In 2007 Private released their full-length album debut, My Secret Lover, on Universal Music Denmark. The album broke into the Top Ten of the Danish albums chart and spawned a pair of major hits, "My Secret Lover" and "Crucify My Heart," which charted at number two and four, respectively. In the wake of this success, Troelsen won Male Vocalist of the Year and Producer of the Year at the 2007 Danish Music Awards; plus, arrangements were made to release My Secret Lover internationally. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
