Biography
Spanish hip-hop duo SFDK formed in Seville in 1993. MC Zatu (born Saturnino Rey) and DJ Acción Sánchez (born Óscar Sánchez) originally derived their name from the acronym for the phrase "Straight from Da Kranny," but later instituted the revised "Siempre Fuertes de Konciencia," or "Always Strong of Conscience." After a series of independent singles including "Sevilla Krannz," "Tras Mil Vueltas," and "Esto Va en Serio," SFDK signed to the Zona Bruta label in 1999 to issue their debut full-length, Siempre Fuertes. The record received minimal attention, a fate that also befell its follow-up, Desde los Chiqueros. Their third LP, 2001 Odisea en el Lodo, proved the commercial and critical turning point, and in the wake of its chart breakthrough SFDK toured Spain, followed by appearances in Chile and the U.S. The duo formed their eponymous label in advance of the release of 2005, which cracked the Spanish Top Five. Los Veteranos followed two years later. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi
