Biography
Márcio Greyck is one of few composers of the Jovem Guarda period to be more influenced by post-Sgt. Pepper's Beatles. After 1972, he became a romantic singer. Rarely noticed after the '80s, he had another period of visibility in the '90s thanks to the Jovem Guarda revival and for his album recorded for Roberto Menescal's label Albatrozz. He recorded his first composition, "Venha Sorrindo" (1967), that same year, had a national hit with "Minha Menina" (version by Antônio Carlos Wallace) of Lennon/McCartney's "Eleanor Rigby," and had his first LP released. From 1967 to 1968, he hosted the show O Mundo É Dos Jovens for TV Tupi (São Paulo). Among his biggest hits were "Impossível Acreditar Que Perdi Você" (with his brother, Cobel, in 1972, re-recorded by Fábio Jr. in 1997, and included in the soundtrack of the TV Globo soap opera A Indomada) and "Vivendo Por Viver" (with Cobel), recorded by Zezé di Camargo & Luciano also in 1997. He had success as an interpreter in 1972 with "O Mais Importante É O Verdadeiro Amor" (a version of "Tanta Voglia Di Lei" by I Pooh) and in the next year with "Infinito" (version of "L'Infinito" by Giancarlo Bigazzi and Toto Savio). ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
