Biography

Lorraine Crosby, a.k.a. Mrs Loud, is a singer from Newcastle upon Tyne. She is best known for providing the female vocals for I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) by Meat Loaf, and for her session work with Bonnie Tyler, Frankie Miller, Sam Fender and others. After performing in a five-piece cabaret group in the 1980s, Crosby and her partner, Stuart Emerson, sent some demos to songwriter and producer Jim Steinman. He agreed to manage them, and they signed to MCA Records. Crosby was present for the Bat Out of Hell 2 recording sessions, and she was asked to provide guide vocals for I'd Do Anything for Love while Meat Loaf recorded his part. Impressed by their vocal chemistry, Steinman chose to keep Crosby's vocals on the studio track. She is credited on the album under the pseudonym, Mrs Loud. It was around this time that Crosby formed a close friendship with Bonnie Tyler. In 1995, she and Emerson wrote three songs for Tyler's album Free Spirit. Emerson wrote their 2005 duet, I'll Stand By You, about their friendship. In 2008, Crosby released her debut solo album, Mrs Loud.
