Biography
Indie alt-pop star L Devine cemented her reputation as a pop adventurer exploring all corners of pop music and making them her own with her EPs NEAR LIFE EXPERIENCE: PART 1 and 2. Featuring BBC Radio 1 playlisted tracks Girls Like Sex, Priorities, Boring People and Naked Alone, the songs spanned L Devine’s experiments in pop music, unified by her knack for consciously telling stories both sonically and lyrically that connect with her generation. Hailing from Whitley Bay, L Devine returned to the North East coast of England after her long awaited UK headline tour to spend this year writing and recording her debut album. An eclectic blend of digital artefacts, vocal manipulation, electronic influences and indie rock rawness, coupled with her most revealing lyrics to date, the songs are L Devine at her most authentic. While the sonic scale of her melody-heavy strain of perceptive pop is huge, the songs are born from intimate personal experiences and are full of self-deprecating humour. Between album sessions, L Devine was back on the road supporting Years & Years on the Night Call UK arena tour, with further summer highlights including Primavera and Brighton Pride. Upcoming shows at World Headquarters in Newcastle and Made Me Like It/Village Underground in London are set to be a treat for L Devine fans, eager to hear the singer-songwriter’s new set.
