Biography
Since first exploding onto Soundcloud back in 2014, Brixton-born Hertz has become a darling of the bedroom producer generation, thanks to his knack for blending soulful electronica with upbeat r&b. Billboard described his breakthrough 2017 EP, Night/Daze, as “a collection of calming antidotes for the stresses of daily life,” and Complex noted that it “oozed both talent and creativity in abundance.” Across Spotify, he racks up over one million listeners per month, and across all platforms has upwards of 100 million streams across his discography. While his top 3 songs have over 50 million alone. And in the last 12 months he’s produced for rising pop starlet Amber-Simone and hyped funk band Franc Moody. All this for a songwriter and producer who is yet to drop a debut album. It would be an understatement to say Hertz had a musical upbringing. His father is the legendary DJ Pete Tong, and he was raised on a strict diet of hip-hop, jazz, and soul, but also drum ‘n’ bass, dubstep and garage. By the age of 15, he was DJing and making music. “Hearing Burial was a real turning point for me early on,” explains Hertz. “I wanted more from my production style after that. I didn’t want to sound like him, but I wanted to get that emotion into my own music. It opened so many doors in my brain.” Joe's debut album 'Current Blues' dropped in July 2020
