Biography
Rooted in pop punk, At The Wayside take their major influence from bands like blink-182, Four Year Strong, Switchfoot, Hit The Lights & A Day To Remember. Combining catchy vocal melodies with guitar hooks driven to satisfy even the most metal of fans, while catering to the ears of pop & rock listeners alike. Though a form of the band had existed for a number of years, their lineup of guitarists/vocalists Phil Carper & Matt Berg, bassist/vocalist Payton Johnson and drummer Andy Lutz was solidified in March of 2022. The band released their Self-Titled 10 song album in 2012, setting out on tour in January of 2013, went back into the studio, releasing their single “Thanks To You” online and on analog radio across the country. They went back on the road in 2014 opening for Seventh Day Slumber’s City Rockfest Tour, before self-producing their second album, “The Breakdown and The Fall” in 2017, and releasing numerous singles in between. The band released the “Somewhere Between” EP in April 2021. Accepted with positive reviews all around, their latest 5 song EP is filled with energetic and ambitious guitars, heavy hitting drums, passionate lyrics focused on improvement of self and spiritual surrender, and melodies that won’t leave your head for days. At The Wayside has taken the stage at numerous festivals, opened for pop punk legends Sum 41 on their 2019 tour, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus in 2021, and played crowd packing shows in cities all over the US.
