Biography

Ira May was born and raised in Basel/Switzerland. She began her musical career as adolescent with piano and singing lessons at the Music Academy and Jazz School in Basel but then decided to write and perform her own music, working with local beat makers and rappers. In 2012 she started a successful cooperation with Shuko, a German Hip Hop and Pop composer/producer who had already been working in London, Paris and Los Angeles with musicians like Chance the Rapper, Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli and many more. Ira May's first album "The Spell" was released in 2014 and went straight to number 1 of the Swiss album charts, a novum for a newcomer in Switzerland. Three years later, Ira May presented her second album "Eye of the Beholder", a collection of very personal songs which she had written after a time of depression. Over the last years Ira May has played many concerts and she enraptures and touches the audience with her powerful and warm soul voice. Besides being the main act, the 32 year old singer/songwriter also performed as a supporting act of stars like Joss Stone, Jamie Cullum and Alicia Keys. Ira May is currently working on her third album.
