Biography
Following the success of the Common Ground album and it’s hit single Givin’ Up, James dug deeper than ever before to make Let’s Talk his most intimate and personal album ever. With its range of rousing anthems, emotive ballads and uplifting pop songs, Let’s Talk shows how James has matured as a musician. James has stayed true to his signature bright acoustic guitar sound in the catchy numbers Don’t Let Anyone Hold You Back and Hopeful Hearts but has also not been afraid to expand his sonic horizon. The power ballad Delicate is gritty in its lyric and orchestral in its sound, showing the true diversity of Cottriall’s musicianship. The hard- hitting lyric to the acoustic track Turn The Key remind us of James’ outstanding authorship ability and the musical craft in the instrumental As The Rain Falls simply gets under your skin. Working as a two man team with Doug Petty, who also produced Cottriall’s second studio album Love Is Louder, Let’s Talk is without doubt the best album and most personal work Cottriall has ever released.
