Biography
Puerto Rican singer and actress Nydia Caro studied singing, dancing, and acting while living in New York. When her father passed away, Caro moved to Puerto Rico. In 1967, her first album, called Dímelo Tú, was released by Tico. While working in a TV station, Nydia Caro had the opportunity to get a main role in a soap opera called Sombras del Pasado. Singing a Carmen Mercado song called "Hermano Tengo Frio," Caro came in first place at Bogota's Festival, in third place at Benidorm Festival singing Julio Iglesias' "Vete Ya," and in first place at 1974's OTI Festival with a song called "Hoy Canto Por Cantar." On TV, Nydia Caro's show became a huge success with the most popular Latin artists making appearances. In 1998, Nydia Caro extended her skills to a new style, recording a folk-new age-oriented album called Amores Luminosos, inspired by religious lyrics. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
