Biography
Liturgical composer and pianist Marty Haugen was born in rural Minnesota on December 30, 1950; though the recepient of a psychology degree from Luther College in Decorah, IA, after graduating he pursued a career as a musician, writing songs for use in worship in the Catholic church. Signing to GIA in 1982, Haugen released I Send My Light, the first in a lengthy series of recordings; his first work of musical theatre, Tales of Wonder, followed in 1989. He remains best known for his composition "Mass of Creation," a perennial favorite in the Roman Catholic faith since its introduction. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi
