Biography
Contemporary gospel artist Sean C. Johnson grew up with music and church as steady inspirations during a childhood that, due to his father's military service, entailed several changes of address. Born in Tampa, Florida and eventually settled in Del City, Oklahoma, Johnson considered singing merely a hobby until a song he wrote and recorded had a positive effect on a friend. Johnson went on to release several albums, beginning in 2006 with the first of three volumes in his Simply a Vessel series. The predominantly kicked-back, humble yet confident sound on these early albums had a lot in common with the contemporary secular likes of Dwele, Eric Roberson, and Musiq. Circa 1993, released in 2015, added some diversions into harder, more pointed material, but his faith remained the foundation. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
