Biography
Whether it is masculinity, online relationships, getting over a breakup or realising one’s own hurtful behaviour, Cinemagraph’s new record revolves around working on and getting to know yourself and reveals a band finally getting into their stride. Still owning the indie rock roots of their earlier work, the new record introduces a rather blunt shift in sound: a vibrant variety of soundscapes and vibes reaching from soft, dreamy synth textures to aggressive kanye-esque vocal leads shows that they are more than ready to emancipate from their previously guitar driven sound. “do you know what we’re supposed to do?” is the band’s attempt at trying to make sense of a world that doesn’t make sense. At best, the honest transparency of the record serves as reaffirmation of the fact that no-one really knows what they’re doing - and that’s okay.
