Biography
Danny Barwick is a producer, singer, and songwriter from Melbourne known for his heartfelt, textural, and vividly cinematic music. A jazz-trained drummer and pianist and a graduate in philosophy, Danny began his career in 2012, recording and touring as a sideman before turning to writing and production. In 2017, he uploaded three remixes, followed by his debut EP ‘Distance,’ featuring original material written and recorded entirely in his home studio. Shortly after the EP’s release, Danny toured Australia supporting revered local artist Gordi, made his festival debut at a number of boutique festivals along the East Coast, produced for artists such as Wallace, Tiaryn, and Miles de Carteret, and was included in Ministry of Sound’s Chillout anthology. Since then, Danny has released two more EPs: ‘The Tigers’ and ‘Naddi,’ which explore the experimental reaches of production and songwriting, further combining his early jazz influences with bedroom electronica and narrative storytelling. In 2019, he moved to a small coastal town in the rainforests of northern New South Wales to write his debut album, ‘Iluka,’ a neo-classical folk piece of entirely acoustic instrumentation. He has spent the last 12 months backpacking through Latin America and is now living in New York.
