Biography
Bringing forth a kaleidoscopic sound that evokes the grit of Erykah Badu, the vulnerability of Janet Jackson, and the vivacity of Hiatus Kaiyote, every performance from Marga Jayy excites the senses and expands consensus reality. Taking her experiences as a supporting vocalist for acts like Jrldm, Unique Salonga, Stick Figgas, Ylona Garcia, Aia De Leon, Morissette, Gloc 9, Chrisish (Côte d'Ivoire) and Arare (Japan), she announced herself as a solo artist in 2019 w/ her debut single Mananatili under Hong Kong-based label evosound. She further highlighted her potency as an artist w/ the subsequent releases of evo sessions EP and Dub Affair. Now an independent artist, she blazes her own path across the music scene of Manila. In 2020, she performed on the same stage as Cory Henry, Mike Love, and Jesus Molina at the Malasimbo Music Festival. In 2022, she collaborated w/ the Manila Symphony Orchestra to perform her original music alongside Fern., TALA, and Bituin Escalante. In the same year, she released the neo-city pop anthem Makina in collaboration w/ Dan Gil and RnB-tronica jam Doesn’t Mean Anything. Her most recent material includes the Funk Brothers-inspired Usok at Kape and psychedelic soul-tinged Daydreaming via LIGA. “One of the most multifaceted and sought-after vocalists, Marga Jayy is a force to be reckoned with!” - GMA Network “A great voice and always great production with great musicians. First class.” - Gerard Hairston (Grammy-winning, multi-platinum engineer)
