A true original. Hailing from the Dominican Republic, Rando played his first chord before he could walk, and parlayed natural talent into a trailblazing style blending the Caribbean’s rhythm and heart with Soul’s funk and blues. He has consistently shunned the path of least resistance in order to follow his music where it takes him. This disregard for commercial pandering has earned him a cult following that he relishes. He unapologetically explores themes of joy, betrayal, desire, ego, spirituality. Background: Rando Camasta Jr. is the eldest son of the renowned singer-songwriter, Rando Camasta. From an early age, he was surrounded by singers and instrumentalists in the family: grandma Hilda Dihmes, great uncle Napoleon Dihmes, all great teachers, and profound influences on his life and music. As a child, he spent long hours in recording studios accompanying his father; an experience he refers to as “ being exposed to the guts of making music before I could understand it, falling in love with it before with it before I could express it.”
