Biography
The very first song rapper Flippa ever made resulted in a video with more than 7 million streams. In 2014, the longtime Migos affiliate took his close friends’ advice and put his experiences, charisma, and style to music. It has led to a series of celebrated videos, albums, and smash singles with Rich The Kid, Lil Yachty, and Lil Durk. Now, HE'S BACK BIGGER THAN EVER WITH $H2!! Originally from Palm Beach, Florida, the rapper once known as Skippa Da Flippa moved to Gwinnett County, Georgia in his early teens. “Quavo and Takeoff were the first people that I talked to when I came out here,” he says of the area northeast of the ATL. Quavo brought his right-hand man Flippa to Gucci Mane as well as the would-be team at Quality Control. “The first thing Gucci said to me is ‘Stay out of jail. It’s no place for a Black man.’” Instead of returning to the trap, Flippa became a fixture at Migos’ studio and shows, part of the Y.R.N. movement. Rather than just watch their confidant become entourage, the squad encouraged Flip’ to try his hand at rapping in 2014. “I do not write anything. It comes off the top,” he says of his songs, which include Quavo collab “Swervin’”. As the label priorities shifted, Flip pushed on, feeding the streets. “I played it cool and took care of it like man,” he admits. While being longtime friends with Migos is an attractive backstory, Flippa stands in no one’s shadow.
