Biography

Born Sbongakonke Mfundo Mchunu, commonly known as Tony Dayimane, is a 19 year-old musician, songwriter and performer. He was born in Durban, Umlazi but spent most of his teenage years in boarding school in Pietermaritzburg. The love for making music sprung in primary school when he wrote a poem and read it for his class and received good reception from his teacher and fellow classmates. He started recording at the age of 15 greatly inspired by Okmalumkoolkat, Sjava, Young Thug’s Beautiful Thugger Girls album and a local duo, uMhlonishwa no Ma Ice from his hometown. He started building a fanbase from that day onwards in both Durban and Pietermaritzburg but has grown to become one of the country’s most promising creative and is even celebrated beyond the borders of South Ahh. Tony Dayimane is described as an astonishing musician, songwriter mainly known for his superb pen game and cadence on different instrumentals in multiple languages. His ear splitting voice and catchy hooks proves his versatility and marks him as one of the next Alphas Mzansi has to offer. He recently released his debut Big Boy EP which debuted no.5 on Apple Music Hip Hop Charts at only 18, he received positive feedback from critics and co signs from notable industry stars. Today, he is proving to be highly influential amongst the youth which led to him receiving countless co signs by the industries’ biggest stars, the likes of Blxckie and Okmalumkoolkat just to name a few..
