Biography

Born and raised in small-town East Tennessee and the son of a traveling gospel singer, Shockley found himself surrounded by soulful sounds and consuming music much differently than his peers. On the road with his dad, he fell in love with big choirs, big bands, and symphonic arrangements. He gravitated towards artists like The Temptations, New Edition, Prince, and Michael Jackson from a young age. The first CD he ever purchased was Chris Brown’s debut album, and it introduced him to the world of early 2000’s hip-hop and R&B. Shockley first began his career in the singer-songwriter pop world but has since established himself by returning to his roots. His upcoming projects embody all of his icons and yet are still true to Shockley. He has found some of his favorite collaborators in Nashville, and the work they are creating together is redefining the sound of the city. Determined to carve his own path, Shockley focuses on crafting his own production style and developing a love for creation behind the scenes. His passion still remains performing. “I create these songs with a live show in mind,” Shockley says. He knows that people will best understand who he is and what he's about when they catch a live show.
