Biography
CATLOW, is Natasha Thirsk (formerly of The Dirtmitts) and long-time guitarist-collaborator Jay Slye, along with masterly musicians, Barry Higginson (bass), Cole George (drums) and Jina Anika (synths and bg vocals). CATLOW was born from jazz, experimental music, new wave, and early hip hop in 2006, when formed by Thirsk. With influences ranging from Phoenix and Liz Phair, to Blonde Redhead and Daft Punk, CATLOW creates a sound that is everything in between and yet, nothing you’ve heard before. CATLOW’s success began with their pop-kissed rock debut album, “Kiss The World” (2006, Boompa Records/EMI), which reached the Top 50 of the Canadian Earshot! Charts and was featured in international TV shows such as 'Being Human' and and 'The L Word'. Followed by 2012's “Pinkly Things” (Aporia Records) and their explosive 2015 record, “Lose Control/Stormsad”, CATLOW "evoke a sound complementary of New Order, Pixies and the Smiths with a dash of pop-kissed Blondie and Goldfrapp, leaving critics describing their music as “Explosions in the Sky with vocals”.
