Biography

Esoteric synth-pop duo Miracle unites the forces of renowned horror composer and synthesizer artisan Steve Moore (one half of Pittsburgh post-rock legends Zombi) with multi-instrumentalist Daniel O’Sullivan, whose CV includes stints in such varied outfits as Ulver, Grumbling Fur, Æthenor, Sunn O))), Guapo, Mothlite and This Is Not This Heat. Active since 2006, their new album The Strife Of Love In A Dream explores visions of the arcane and the hypermodern, the phantasmic and the familiar, across eight gothic psychodramas inspired by everything from Kate Bush and Glen Danzig to Robert Anton Wilson and J.G. Ballard. The pair met on a U.S. tour in 2006 and soon began shaping a composite sound from their disparate talents, leading to releases on London-based House Anxiety and beloved UK IDM institution Planet Mu. Their latest offering flexes new dimensions of their craft, both more lyrically adventurous and melodically infectious. Moore’s complex latticework of hypnotic electronics are twisted into warped forms by O’Sullivan’s oblique arrangements and vocal histrionics, alternately conjuring moods of Arcadian gardens and black netherworlds. These are synthetic dreams within dreams, warped through the looking glass of two contemporary masters of ambitious progressive music. “I’m pursuing a confluence of identities in order to cultivate a self obliterating totality.” –Daniel O’Sullivan
