Biography
Labyrinthine Oceans are a Newcastle based female fronted experimental alt rock band (try saying that three times), which fully formed in early 2022. They create dreamscapes of guitar based noise, featuring soaring guitar solos and sultry but slightly gritty vocals. Inspired by 90s alt, grunge, psychedelia, shoegaze and good old rock and roll, they create something that is not necessarily identifiable but very much exciting. Labyrinthine Oceans pair their eclectic soundscapes with captivating visuals, both live and across their various social platforms (@labyrinthineoceans) Featured on BBC Introducing by Nick Roberts and Rebecca Cook regularly, they've landed a spot on the BBC Introducing June 2023 playlist following the release of their debut studio EP 'The Deep End'. They also appeared on a BBC Introducing stage at Summer Streets festival 2022 and are regulars on the Newcastle show. They also have the support of local press and can often be spotted in NARC., The Crack and NE Volume magazine with rave reviews and features. Fans of Radiohead, my bloody valentine, Beach House, Joy Division, Avenged Sevenfold, Nirvana, Slowdive and Hole may find glimmers of influence sprinkled throughout L.O <3 “A powerhouse of empowering electric textures” – NARC. Magazine “Gorgeously ethereal” - The Crack “An impressive array of song writing ability and lyricism” - NE Volume Magazine Labyrinthine Oceans is: Julia O’Neill (vocals, guitar), Toby Flynn (bass, guitar), Daniel Jackson (guitar).
