Biography
The People The Poet self released their critically acclaimed debut concept album "The Narrator" in 2013. The Narrator was produced by Todd Campbell, Gil Norton (on the tracks Sing & Molly Drove Me Away) & Pete Miles (On the track Not For Now). Successful tours with Straight Lines & Deaf Havana followed in 2014 which also included Summer festival appearances at Latitude Festival (handpicked by BBC Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens), Hay Festival & Swn Festival. 2014 also saw the band get picked to become one of twelve artists to join the BBC Horizons 12 music scheme. The Narrator was nominated for the Welsh Music Prize and the year finished off with live sessions at BBC Maida Vale Studios. In March 2015 the band were invited to perform at SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. Whilst there BBC Radio 2 DJ Dermot O' Leary was so impressed by their set that he invited them to perform a live acoustic session for BBC Radio 2 at SXSW. This lead to another acoustic session for BBC Radio 2 when the band arrived back home on the Jeremy Vine show at Hay Festival. The People The Poet returned to Austin, Texas for SXSW in March 2016 in support of their new EP “Paradise Closed” with singles "Matchday” & “Club 27” receiving support from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio Wales, Planet Rock, Kerrang and more!
