Biography

Galanjah is an Argentinian keyboardist and vocalist who learned the dub way through joining the Nairobi band back in 2010, appearing on their album Wet, mixed at Ariwa studios, and backing Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry on live dates in Argentina in 2011. In 2012, the band flew to the Gambia to be part of Ariwa’s Back to Africa Festival, which led to collaborations with artists such as Tippa Irie. After that experience Nairobi, recorded a new album called Wax and released another with lost tracks and dub versions of their first three albums, alongside a feature film about their musical journey, called Jungle Boyz (the title an homage to Gambian youth), and during the last few years, they have toured extensively throughout South America. Being a dub enthusiastic, Galanjah is now also finding a way of expressing herself through singing in a style that reminds of the first dancehall tunes and digital reggae releases, with her 505 drum machine. She has released a few original songs on the internet and has released an album ("I") edited by Casa del Puente records.
