Biography
Holy Water Buffalo is an American folk rock band based in Los Angeles, California. Founded in Heber, Utah by lead vocalist/guitarist Tommy Brunson and bassist Jeffrey Vanderlinden, Brunson and Vanderlinden began writing and performing together in 2007. Violinist/vocalist Sienna Peck and drummer Ronnie Strauss joined the band as members in 2023, returning to Utah to headline shows during Sundance Film Festival. The band’s debut self-titled album was released in 2010, the first single I'm Alright (It's Heavy) amassing 22,000 streams on Spotify. The current sound heard on their newly released EP Las Palmas blends the narrative-driven songwriting and moving vocal prowess by Brunson, rich bass and drum rhythms by Vanderlinden and Strauss, and cinematic string arrangements by classically trained Peck. The recent roots revival has primed listeners for a new generation of rustic, soul-bearing music with nods to tradition while venturing into uncharted soundscapes. Holy Water Buffalo walks this line with an infallible gift for classic melodies and soul-stirring lyrics while keeping authenticity at its core.
