Biography
Foreign Affairs is the musical collaboration of brothers Adam and Lawrence Purnell, who began writing together in their early teens before Adam relocated to Brussels to study guitar. The move did not halt their progress, with writing sessions over Skype maintaining their productivity and the long-distance partnership providing the inspiration for their name. In December of 2018 the brothers released their first EP The Old Fire Station. The record was the culmination on their journey to date, the sounds, sights and experiences that the duo have shared. The EP received widespread critical acclaim and was followed by a 22-date European tour with Grammy-nominated artist Larkin Poe. Foreign Affairs two previous singles ‘Make a Move’ and ‘Hits Like Lightning’ were released to critical acclaim and widespread support from both radio and written press. They were selected as the BBC Introducing ‘Artist of The Week’ which saw them perform a string of live sessions for the radio show and Wonderland Magazine covered the duo as part of their ‘New Noise’ segment. The tracks both landed Spotify editorial placements on the ‘New Blu’ and ‘POV; u sold ur soul to the devil’ playlists. ‘Hits Like Lightning’ also enjoyed editorial success with YouTube Music, landing a placement on their ‘Heavy Stereo’ playlist while ‘Make a Move’ was selected for commercial use for BT Sports Europa league football programming.
